How CheckMyTap Makes Money

CheckMyTap is an independently operated website. We earn revenue through affiliate partnerships with water treatment product manufacturers and retailers. When you click a product link on our site and make a purchase, we may receive a commission. This commission comes from the retailer, not from you. You pay the same price whether you use our link or go directly to the retailer.

What This Means for You

Our water quality data is not affected. All hardness, contaminant, and source data comes from public databases: EPA SDWIS, USGS, and municipal Consumer Confidence Reports. No manufacturer pays to change these numbers.

Which product category we suggest is based on your water. If your water is soft, we tell you a softener is unnecessary. If your PFAS is low, we do not push a filter. Category recommendations (softener vs. filter vs. RO) are driven by water chemistry.

Which specific brands appear on the site is limited by affiliate partnerships. We only feature products from manufacturers who participate in affiliate programs. This means our product selection is not exhaustive. There may be products we do not cover that would also work well for your situation. We are upfront about this.

We do not rank products by commission rate. Within our selection, products are listed by price or category relevance, not by which one pays us more.
